We were honoured when Apolis approached us to be the first Canadian Store to partner with them on the Market Bag for the Bangladesh Project. The project was established in Bangladesh to help mothers of malnourished children find temporary employment producing jute handicrafts . The operation supports artisans by providing literacy classes, training on nutrition, women's legal rights information, educational awareness and finance.
By entering a local market the bag seeks to mobilize a global citizen by exercising commerce with a conscience. Apolis asked us to showcase our neighbourhood so we sent resident photographer Tara Dwelsdorf out to capture Gastown. Meat & Bread, Revolver Coffee, Neighbour, Inventory, Nelson the Seagull, Lynn Stevens, One of a Few, The Block, Six Acres and The Pourhouse are a few of the great spots that are within a sq. km of our front door. We're very lucky to be amongst such great company.
Head over to Apolis to check out some more photos from our local haunts. We also have the Market Bag available online.
